SLSRFR powers Rugby Referees with new communication devices
The Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees (SLSRFR) has taken a major step forward by providing referee gear-related communication devices to the top 10 referees who were selected to represent Panel A.
The communication set comprises five units, and they can utilize it for the games that they are assigned. Further, this technical advancement will allow smooth and clear communication among the Referee, Assistant Referees and Technical Zone Managers while they are officiating. Therefore, this initiative will definitely elevate the accuracy of the decision-making process. Further, it will enhance the performance of the referees, and at the end of the day, the quality of rugby on the island will be advanced.
In modern days, it is a common scenario that the players and teams widely use the latest technology to improve their performance. But in Sri Lanka, lack of funds stands as the major obstacle to technical advancement and to improving the overall quality of the game. This is a project initiated based on the valuable funds received from the Ministry of Youth and Sports during June 2024.
The incumbent committee of SLSRFR, headed by Mr. Dinka Pieris, has given their first priority to developing the quality of match refereeing, and they have already taken a severe amount of actions to uplift the standard of referees. Hence, this can be derived as another milestone that they have achieved while they are moving towards their target.
